Music Ministry at First Baptist Killen
Music is not anything great:
God is the Great One. Therefore, we desire music to align with His purposes. The Bible commands us to sing and play and we will do so with all of hearts to the glory of God as we gather corporately. We acknowledge that music and singing and playing are not the highest goal as we gather to worship the One True God. It is the proclamation of the Word of God that is our highest goal-to hear it and receive it and demonstrate it!
Vision that drives the mission:
This mission is driven by our desire to devote our lives to pursuing and knowing God in a loving relationship as it is revealed in scripture, which is begun by the Holy Spirit, and maintained by His grace through the Jesus Christ; living a life of joyful obedience to His word, by serving, loving, and reaching all those we can through the gospel; and expressing our praise to Him through God-centered, Christ-exalting, Bible-saturated music.
The Mission:
The Mission of First Baptist Killen Music Ministry is to Glorify God in pleasing worship by:
"Loving Christ with all we are (Spiritual Passion/Obedience)" Matthew 22:23-46 and John 14:15
"Living a lifestyle of worship each day (Modeling/Example/Pattern)" 1 Corinthians 10:31
"Leading the body of Christ in edifying worship/Praise through song (Music)" Ephesians 5 and 6
This three point declaration can be stated most clearly and briefly by saying:
We exist to pursue God passionately, live life worshipfully, and praise Him musically.
When We Meet:
Rehearsals are each Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Choir meets in the "Choir Room" on the bottom level of the Worship Center at 6:00 p.m.
Orchestra meets in the Worship Center at 7:00 p.m.
